BIOREMEDIATION

Bioremediation refers to the use of naturally occurring microorganisms (yeast, fungi, or bacteria) to break down hazardous substances into nontoxic substances. Certain microorganisms can eat and digest organic substances such as fuels or solvents for their nutrients and energy. The microorganisms break down the organic contaminants into harmless products, mainly carbon dioxide and water. Bioremediation offers an attractive alternative to other remediation processes in terms of its relatively low cost and low environmental impact.

Scaltech International develops cost-effective landfarming processes for cleaning up contaminated soil and drill cuttings.

The bioremediation service includes:

•   professional assessment of contaminated soils

•   sampling and analytical testing

•   lab and pilot scale feasibility studies

•   technical recommendations on cost-effective treatment options

•   full scale design and operation of in situ and ex situ bioremediation of contaminated soils

•   monitoring of soil and water contaminants
